Expert: Cotton could be even stronger in ’11

US cotton growers enjoyed a strong year in 2010 and 2011 may be even better, Southeast Farm Press reports.

Overall, acreage and harvest were substantially higher throughout the US Cotton Belt in 2010 than in the previous production season, and University of Georgia Extension cotton agronomist Guy Collins told the publication that Extension agronomists across the nation are anticipating an increase in acres in their respective states from 10 to 25 percent.

Collins says essentially every state in the Southeast increased its cotton acreage in 2010 compared to 2009.
