Facebook offers an odd amalgamation of self-absorption, melancholy, braggadocio, amity and idiocy all in one tidy package.
Whether it’s egocentric 20-somethings who post hundreds of nearly identical cellphone self-portraits, political activists who blindly bleat the praises of their party – no matter what the issue – or inept grammarians who couldn’t identifythe difference between “to,” “too” or “two” to save their lives, there’s never a shortage of individuals eager to show off just how little they know and just how proud they are to tell you about it.
Even some of Facebook’s more erudite features can leave one scratching one’s head.
Take the Facebook page “World War II History.” It highlights significant events before, during and after World War II, almost always on the anniversary of the day they occurred.
