There’s an old adage that says you can’t win a war of words against someone who buys ink by the barrel. Along those same lines, it’s probably unwise to purposely ignore those same folks, as was evident in this weekend’s State newspaper.

Some background: A recent story by the State about Gov. Nikki Haley’s first 100 days in office included the rather astonishing fact that Haley has declined every interview request by the paper since she was sworn in.

As such, that may be a first.

Plenty of sitting governors across the country have tried to freeze out individual newspapers and refused interview requests, but it’s difficult to recall one who did so at the beginning of their term. Particularly when the paper was the one located in the state capital.
